01Set your rewardChoose how much to pay per approved submission. The minimum is $0.50 per clip. Higher rewards attract more contributors and faster fill rates.
02Fund the taskPay (reward × target count) upfront via Stripe. Groundtruth adds a platform fee on top of that total — you see the full amount before you confirm.
03Pay only for approved workIf you reject a submission, that reward returns to your task balance. You only spend money on clips you actually approve. Unused balance is refunded.

What happens to budget from rejected submissions?When you reject a submission, the contributor is not paid and that reward is returned to the task budget. You can use it to fund additional submission slots or request a refund when the task closes.
Can I pause a task and get a refund?Yes. You can pause a task at any time, which stops new submissions. When you close the task, any unused funded budget is refunded to your original payment method, minus the platform fee on submissions you've already received.
Is there a minimum task size?There is no minimum number of submissions, but the minimum reward per clip is $0.50. Tasks with very low rewards may fill more slowly than tasks with competitive rewards.
How does the platform fee work at volume?At scale the platform fee drops — the exact breakpoints are negotiated with our team. If you're processing more than a few thousand submissions per month, reach out and we'll put together a volume pricing proposal.
Do contributors pay any fees?No. Contributors receive the full reward set by the buyer. Groundtruth takes its fee only from the buyer side, so contributors are never surprised by deductions.
