Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, an encrypted password (we never store it in plain text), your role (data buyer or contributor), and, for buyers, your organisation name.

• Submissions you choose to provide: the media you capture for a task — video, audio, photos, and LiDAR depth scans — together with basic metadata such as duration, file size, format, and the time of capture.

• Location information: with your permission, we collect precise location to show nearby tasks. If you separately enable background location, we collect location while the app is not open to build your private daily-habit insights and notify you about nearby tasks. You can disable this at any time in the app or device settings.

• Payment information: payments and payouts are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store full card numbers or bank account numbers; Stripe handles that directly under its own privacy policy.

• Technical information: standard server logs such as IP address and device or browser type, used to keep the service secure and working.

How we use your information

We use your information to operate the marketplace, show contributors relevant tasks, let buyers review and approve submissions, process payments and payouts, provide support, and detect and prevent fraud and abuse.

How we share information

• With data buyers: when you submit media to a task and the buyer approves it, that submission is shared with the buyer for the purpose described in the task.

• With service providers: Stripe (payments and payouts), Supabase (authentication, database, and encrypted file storage), and our hosting/infrastructure providers — only as needed to run the service.

• For legal reasons: when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Groundtruth, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your responsibilities when submitting

Only submit media you captured yourself and have the right to share. Do not include other people, private property, or personal information without the necessary consent. You can read more in our Terms of Service.

Data retention and security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Files are stored privately and served only through short-lived, signed links; data is protected with row-level security and encryption in transit.

Your rights

You can permanently delete your account from the in-app account settings. This removes your sign-in, profile, location history, connected context, and private activity data. Marketplace transaction records and approved submissions may be retained where needed for payments, fraud prevention, disputes, or other legal obligations.

You can also request access, correction, or deletion help by contacting us at privacy@outerscope.xyz. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Children

Groundtruth is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
